Kristina, I think photo #3 saluting the flag pole shot is very well done. Your angle is great in that you show the veterans and the two cadets that raised the flag. There are no cars or other background distractions. It might have also looked good left in colour with the red flag backed by the blue sky. John Paul also used a trick where you leave the flag red and turn everything else to B&W.
ReplyDeletePhoto #2 was an ice change in that it showed an aspect of the event that other photographers missed. I agree that leaving the colour is very important for this one. I like the tilt of Kara's head and that the boys has a flag in his other hand. The focus could have been a bit crisper and I would have cropped tighter behind his back to remove the exit sign.
Photo #1 was a good idea. I think it communicates a "Crusader Welcome" very clearly. Showing the wall mural was a clever way to label the situation. It's a bit fuzzy due to the distance. You could also have cropped the bottom tighter to remove the veteran's let and bring the viewer closer to the subject.
